Pakistan has activated an indigenous automated web monitoring system to strengthen the security of government websites and online applications as cyber threats targeting the country’s digital infrastructure continue to increase.
According to an official document, authorities deployed the locally developed system under the CERT Directorate Pakistan to improve protection against growing cyber risks directed at government web platforms and digital services.
The advanced monitoring platform provides continuous cybersecurity surveillance of more than 1,500 government websites and online applications across Pakistan. The system is designed to detect cyberattacks in real time, enabling authorities to respond quickly before threats can cause significant damage to critical digital infrastructure.
The platform can instantly identify several types of cybersecurity threats, including website defacement, malicious script injections, and potential data leaks. Early detection allows cybersecurity teams to take immediate action, preventing large-scale attacks and ensuring uninterrupted public access to official online services.
Another key feature of the system is its automated alert mechanism, which notifies relevant departments as soon as any suspicious activity or cyber threat is detected. This helps institutions respond quickly and minimize the risk of service disruption or exposure of sensitive government data.
Currently, 1,527 government and key websites are being continuously monitored through the platform. These include 407 federal government websites, along with several from provincial and regional administrations, including **209 from Punjab, 282 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 174 from Sindh, 108 from Balochistan, 51 from Gilgit-Baltistan, and 133 from Azad Kashmir.
To further strengthen national digital security, the system also monitors 119 private sector websites and 44 banking platforms, ensuring broader protection for critical online services.
The initiative marks an important step in enhancing Pakistan’s cybersecurity framework, helping authorities detect threats early and safeguard the country’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem.
