The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has canceled a property auction scheduled for Tuesday, sources told ProPakistani. The sale was meant to take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Large Taxpayers’ Office in Islamabad. Therefore, the Bahria Town auction will not go ahead as planned.
The property sits in Bahria Golf City, Rawalpindi. It includes 32 kanal and 11 marla of land along with a constructed house. Moreover, the FBR had advertised the public auction in September 2026 to recover tax dues. The notice tied the property to a tax default of Rs. 26.47 billion. The cancellation matters because the property carried such a large claim.
However, the cancellation follows a Supreme Court order that barred the FBR from recovering Rs. 26 billion from Bahria Town. The court issued the stay on Sept. 29, 2026. Furthermore, the order restrained the FBR from taking enforcement action against the group. Instead, the FBR pulled the sale about a week after the stay. The timing suggests the stay shaped the decision.
The FBR has used auctions against the group before. It previously sold a Bahria Town property on Park Road in Islamabad. That sale recovered Rs. 2 billion. Meanwhile, the board also held an auction of 527 kanal of land in Tehsil Murree in July 2026.
Each sale formed part of the board’s wider effort to recover tax dues. Additionally, Bahria Town has been a repeated target of FBR recovery efforts in recent months. Those earlier sales show how the FBR had pursued recovery through public auctions. Still, the latest stay now limits what the board can do on the Rs. 26 billion claim.
Potential bidders will therefore need to wait for further word from the FBR. The auction notice had appeared only in September 2026. For now, the Bahria Town auction stands cancelled, and the Supreme Court order remains in force.
