Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Secretary General Amirul Azeem has passed away after a prolonged illness. The Amirul Azeem death was confirmed by the party’s spokesperson, who said he had been battling cancer for a long time. The party will announce his funeral prayers at a later time.

The spokesperson confirmed the news in an official statement. Party leaders and workers expressed grief over his passing. They also paid tribute to his long service and commitment to Jamaat-e-Islami.

Amirul Azeem was born in Lahore in 1958. He earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of the Punjab. During his student years, he became active in student politics and leadership.

He served as the elected president of the Punjab University Students’ Union. He also held the position of Nazim-e-Ala of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba. His leadership role made him a well-known figure in student politics.

During General Zia-ul-Haq’s rule, Amirul Azeem led a long march demanding the restoration of student unions. He also served time in jail because of his participation in the movement. His activism remained an important part of his public life.

Later, he served for many years as the Central Secretary for Information of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. His work focused on party organization and public communication. He remained active in the party’s leadership for decades.

In 2019, then-party chief Siraj-ul-Haq appointed him as Secretary General after consultation with the Central Majlis-e-Shura. In 2024, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman reappointed him to the same position following another consultation with the party’s central leadership.

The Amirul Azeem death marks the end of a long political and organizational career within Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. The party said details of his funeral prayers will be announced separately.
