PM Shehbaz orders nationwide readiness amid rising regional tensions

PM Shehbaz Sharif has directed all relevant authorities to remain fully prepared for any challenges arising from the uncertain regional situation. He warned that escalating tensions could affect Pakistan’s economy if conditions worsen. The directives came during a high-level meeting in Islamabad to review economic preparedness and the impact of regional developments.

Officials also presented a report on the government’s austerity measures and emergency planning during the meeting. The prime minister stressed the importance of proactive planning and instructed authorities to prepare a comprehensive response strategy. He said timely decisions would help protect economic stability if the regional situation deteriorates further.

Government reviews economic preparedness

Shehbaz acknowledged that growing regional tensions could place additional pressure on Pakistan‘s economy in the coming months. However, he expressed confidence in the country’s current economic position. He said the economy remains stable and emphasized the need for continuous monitoring to respond quickly to any emerging challenges.

The prime minister also urged all institutions to remain vigilant and strengthen coordination. He said effective planning and rapid implementation of policies would be essential in minimizing the economic impact of external developments. The government, he added, must stay prepared for every possible scenario.

Officials informed the meeting that Pakistan currently has sufficient petroleum reserves to meet national demand. They also assured the prime minister that arrangements are in place to maintain uninterrupted fuel supplies despite regional uncertainty. These measures are intended to prevent disruptions in the country’s energy sector.

Shehbaz directed authorities to work closely with provincial governments to take strict action against anyone creating artificial fuel shortages. He stressed that profiteering and hoarding would not be tolerated. The government, he said, must ensure that petroleum products remain available to consumers across the country.

The prime minister praised the government’s timely fuel management strategy during earlier periods of uncertainty. He said previous measures protected motorcycle riders, transporters, rickshaw drivers, and other consumers from the effects of fuel shortages. Government subsidies also helped reduce the burden of rising fuel prices on ordinary citizens.

He further appreciated the public’s cooperation during earlier petroleum conservation and energy-saving campaigns. According to the prime minister, citizens played an important role in the success of previous austerity measures. He expressed hope that the same spirit of cooperation would continue if similar steps become necessary again.

Concluding the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif instructed all institutions to remain on high alert and respond swiftly to any economic challenges linked to regional developments. He said comprehensive planning, stable fuel supplies, and strict enforcement against artificial shortages would strengthen Pakistan’s preparedness. The prime minister also emphasized that public cooperation would remain essential in protecting the country’s economy during uncertain times.
