Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday cleared a 6 point action plan to fix long standing tax court delays. The plan aims to accelerate the resolution of tax disputes across the country. Consequently, PM Shehbaz approves new plan to resolve pending tax cases through major institutional reforms. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress in the digitalization of FBR. He directed that all measures be implemented within strict timelines to ensure visible progress.

A key component of the reforms is strengthening the Alternate Dispute Resolution system. This will ensure faster settlement of tax cases outside courts. Therefore, PM Shehbaz approves new plan to resolve pending tax cases and reduce the burden on the judiciary. Officials briefed that an improved ADR mechanism will speed up case disposal significantly. ADR forums have already helped recover Rs 24 billion for the national exchequer this year through resolved tax disputes.

The meeting also approved the establishment of a Centralized Litigation Management System. This digital platform will streamline tax related legal data and improve tracking of cases. The system will ensure timely follow up on all pending matters. It will also bring transparency and efficiency to tax litigation management. The CLMS will enable better reporting and coordination of tax cases. Authorities can monitor progress and reduce delays effectively.

The 6 point plan includes major reforms aimed at reducing delays in tax litigation and improving institutional efficiency. Federal ministers including Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahsan Iqbal, and Attaullah Tarar attended the meeting. Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan and Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani were also present. Task force members and senior officials joined the session.
