Meesha Shafi’s lawyer asks court to dismiss Ali Zafar’s defamation suit against her

Meesha Shafi defamation case

The Meesha Shafi defamation case reached a key stage as her lawyer asked a Lahore sessions court to dismiss the suit filed by Ali Zafar. During final arguments, Meesha Shafi’s counsel said the plaintiff failed to present solid evidence to support the claim.

Advocate Saqib Jilani told the court that his client stayed consistent in her statements about alleged harassment. He said she stood firm during cross-examination and did not change her position. He also added that she first tried to resolve the issue privately before speaking publicly.

The Meesha Shafi defamation case saw both sides present strong arguments before the Lahore Sessions Court. The defence argued that Meesha spoke about her own experience and should not face legal punishment for it.

Ali Zafar’s lawyer, Advocate Umar Tariq Gill, rejected these claims. He argued that the allegations made in 2018 were false and damaged his client’s reputation. He also said no one else has accused Ali Zafar of similar conduct. The plaintiff has demanded Rs1 billion in damages.

The case has gained major public attention over the years. Ali Zafar claims the allegations harmed his public image and caused stress for his family.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Asif Hayat Bajwa heard both sides and adjourned the hearing. The court will review final citations before announcing its decision.

This stage could shape the outcome of the case. The final ruling will decide the direction of this high-profile legal dispute.
