On Friday, March 13, 2026, terrorists struck a police mobile unit on routine patrol in the Shadi Khel Bettani area of Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, detonating an improvised explosive device (IED) near the Rasool Khel checkpost along the Shahdikhel-Mastikhel road. The blast instantly killed seven officers, including SHO Sadr Azam of Shadi Khel Police Station. The other martyrs were identified as Constable Shah Behram (driver), Constables Shah Khalid, Haji Muhammad, Gul Zada, Sakhi Zada, and Constable Insaf Uddin. Rescue teams rushed to the scene, cordoned off the area, and shifted any injured personnel to nearby hospitals while search operations were launched to track the perpetrators. No group has claimed responsibility so far.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi strongly condemned the “cowardly terrorist attack,” calling the loss “extremely tragic.” He directed the Inspector General of Police to submit a detailed report and assured full government support and condolences to the families of the martyrs. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other leaders also expressed grief and solidarity with the bereaved families.

This incident highlights the persistent security challenges and resurgence of militant attacks in the region, where Pakistan’s law enforcement personnel continue to make supreme sacrifices in the line of duty. The nation stands united in mourning these brave officers and in its resolve against terrorism.
