Apple’s Longest-Lasting Mac Laptop Is Here, and It Costs the Same

MacBook Pro M6

Apple has launched a new 14-inch MacBook Pro M6 and a new iMac, both powered by its latest M6 chip. In press releases issued on October 27, 2026, Apple said the MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 and the iMac at $1,499. Pre-orders open today, October 28, and the computers start reaching buyers on Friday, November 6.

The starting prices match the older models. In the UAE, the new MacBook Pro and iMac start at Dh8,499 and Dh6,499, the same as the models they replace, after Apple raised prices in July.

Faster chip, longer battery

The M6 is Apple’s first chip made on a 2-nanometre process, which lets it pack more power into less space. In the MacBook Pro, it has a 12-core processor and a 12-core graphics unit, two more of each than before.

Apple says the laptop handles graphics up to 30% faster and AI tasks up to 25% faster than last year’s M5 model. People moving up from an older M1 MacBook Pro will see much bigger jumps, with Apple claiming up to 13 times faster AI performance.

Battery life is the headline change for everyday users. Apple says the laptop now lasts up to 24 hours on a single charge, the longest of any Mac so far. It can also charge to 50% in about 30 minutes with a 96W charger.

Memory starts at 16GB and goes up to 32GB. The base model comes with 1TB of storage. The laptop also adds faster Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

Everything else looks the same: the Liquid Retina XDR screen, the 12MP camera, six speakers, and the same ports, including HDMI, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SD card slot and a headphone jack. It comes in space black and silver.

What changes on the iMac

The iMac’s last chip upgrade was the M4 in 2024. The new model comes in two versions: a 10-core processor with 10-core graphics, and a 12-core version with 12-core graphics.

Apple says the M6 iMac runs AI tasks up to five times faster than the M4 model, with up to twice the graphics speed. Storage is also up to twice as fast. Anyone still using an old Intel iMac would see up to 18 times faster performance, Apple claims.

Like the laptop, the iMac gets Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. The higher-end model gets four Thunderbolt 4 ports, faster 2.5Gb wired internet, and an optional nano-texture screen that cuts glare.

The design does not change. It still has the 24-inch 4.5K screen and comes in seven colours: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver.

What it costs in rupees

At the interbank dollar rate of Rs. 276.80 on October 27, here is what Apple’s US prices work out to. Students and teachers in the US get a lower education price.

ModelUS priceUS education priceApprox. in rupees
MacBook Pro 14-inch M6$1,999$1,899Rs. 553,300
iMac M6 (10-core)$1,499$1,449Rs. 414,900
iMac M6 (12-core)$1,699$1,599Rs. 470,300

These rupee figures are only a guide. Pakistan is not among the 35 countries where Apple is taking direct pre-orders, so local buyers will rely on resellers and importers. Once import duties, taxes and seller margins are added, shop prices in Pakistan usually end up well above the converted figure.

Both computers run macOS 27, which brings Apple’s new Siri AI assistant. Apple notes that Siri AI is still in beta and some features may not be available in every country or language.
