Saudi, Pakistan, Türkiye Military Chiefs Hold Key Riyadh Talks

Makkah Defense Pact

Senior military leaders from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye gathered in Riyadh on Friday for high-level defense talks. The meeting aimed to review regional security threats and put collective defense measures into action. Officials held these discussions under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement.

Top commanders from the three nations reviewed the ongoing security situation in detail. They jointly condemned recent attacks targeting civilian infrastructure, economic facilities, and the Holy City of Makkah. Additionally, the participants praised the Saudi Armed Forces for their readiness and professionalism in defending the kingdom against hostile threats.

The commanders then focused on building concrete operational frameworks to strengthen deterrence. They outlined plans for enhanced intelligence sharing, joint military coordination, and defense capability integration. Furthermore, military leaders reaffirmed the deep strategic trust and historical ties binding their armed forces together. The Riyadh summit, they said, shows their collective resolve to turn political commitments into real defense capabilities.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed the original agreement in Mecca on August 7, 2026. This Makkah Defense Pact establishes a mutual security alliance among the three countries. Under its terms, an attack on any one member counts as an attack against all three.

Friday’s summit therefore marks a major step toward building joint deterrence mechanisms and defense-industrial integration. Still, questions remain about how quickly these commitments will translate into on-the-ground capability. The defense chiefs closed the meeting by reaffirming their explicit commitment to collective defense. Finally, they reiterated their shared determination to protect the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.
