Dyson Launches Revolutionary AI Toothbrush That Flosses Automatically

Dyson CameraJet toothbrush

Dyson just revolutionized oral hygiene technology significantly. The company launched the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush featuring groundbreaking AI capabilities. Therefore, the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush uses artificial intelligence detecting gaps between teeth automatically. Founder James Dyson explained the motivation behind this innovation specifically. Research revealed people frequently miss critical spaces where plaque commonly forms. This $499 smart toothbrush represents six years of intensive development. Additionally, 661 Dyson engineers collaborated with 30 dental professionals throughout creation.

AI Camera Detects Gaps Between Teeth

The toothbrush incorporates sophisticated camera technology comprehensively. A 100,000-pixel macro camera includes integrated lighting specifically. Furthermore, Dyson’s Gap Optical Targeting system utilizes advanced machine learning. This system trained extensively on 470,000 dental images during development. The technology analyzes 28 live images every second continuously. Additionally, it identifies gaps between teeth within just 100 milliseconds.

When detecting gaps, the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush automatically fires mouthrinse bursts. This process flosses targeted areas while users continue brushing normally. The device supports both 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Its camera doubles as an endoscope providing live teeth viewing. Users access this through the accompanying smartphone application specifically.

The app delivers comprehensive oral health insights systematically. Coverage maps show brushing thoroughness effectively. Additionally, guided cleaning instructions improve technique over time. Furthermore, brushing and flossing insights provide valuable feedback continuously. Dyson emphasized strong privacy protections throughout this system. The toothbrush doesn’t record or store images anywhere. Neither device storage nor cloud storage retains this sensitive visual data.

A Different Type of Water Jet

Dyson collaborated extensively with National University of Singapore’s Dentistry Faculty. This partnership spanned more than five years during development. The company created proprietary artificial plaque specifically for testing purposes. Research revealed conventional water flossers often use problematic narrow jets. These narrow jets could punch through plaque without removing surrounding buildup effectively.

Therefore, CameraJet employs an innovative conical jet design instead. This design covers wider areas while operating at lower pressure levels. The toothbrush includes a 12.5ml mouthrinse tank with special engineering. This tank functions regardless of device angle during use. Dyson calls this innovation an “anti-gravity tank” specifically. It reduces air pockets that could otherwise prevent proper jet firing. This proves particularly important when cleaning back teeth horizontally.

Smart Brush Heads Track Usage

Each brush head incorporates sophisticated RFID tracking technology. This allows the Dyson CameraJet toothbrush detecting attached head types automatically. Additionally, it tracks usage frequency comprehensively over time. Therefore, users receive timely replacement notifications when needed. The heads also include sonic dampeners reducing operational noise significantly.

CameraJet utilizes variable sonic oscillation technology innovatively. This changes brushing angles dynamically reaching difficult areas effectively. External laboratory testing revealed impressive performance improvements. The variable mode removed up to 69% more plaque in challenging areas. This significantly outperformed market-leading premium electric toothbrushes substantially.

Users maintain flexibility choosing between automatic and manual modes. Automatic gap detection operates independently during normal brushing. Alternatively, manual jetting mode provides direct user control. Additionally, brushing intensity remains fully adjustable according to preference. Dyson also offers specialized sensitive-bristle heads for sensitive teeth and gums.

Price and Availability

The Dyson CameraJet toothbrush costs $499 at launch specifically. Two color options include Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink. The complete package includes two standard brush heads immediately. Additionally, charging dock, charging cable and travel case complete the bundle. Remarkably, the charging dock refills mouthrinse tanks within just three seconds.

Dyson recommends specific product compatibility requirements importantly. Clear, SLS-free mouthrinse works optimally with this system. Similarly, SLS-free toothpaste prevents interference with camera functionality. Foam specifically disrupts camera operation significantly. Therefore, Dyson developed proprietary non-foaming toothpaste and low-foaming mouthrinse specifically. However, the company hasn’t announced availability timing for these complementary products yet.
