Pakistan has purchased another liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipment for July through the spot market. The latest Pakistan LNG cargo was secured at a price of $21.88 per MMBTU, making it the most expensive spot cargo purchased by the country during July 2026, according to Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) sources.

Sources said Pakistan LNG Limited invited bids for LNG deliveries scheduled for July 27 and 28. However, only one bid was submitted in response to the tender. The company accepted that offer for the required shipment.

The newly purchased cargo was priced at $21.88 per MMBTU. This rate is the highest paid for a spot LNG cargo by Pakistan during the current month. The purchase reflects the cost of securing supplies from the international spot market.

Pakistan regularly imports LNG to help meet domestic energy demand. The government uses both long-term agreements and spot purchases to maintain fuel supplies. Spot cargoes are often bought when additional gas is required.

The latest purchase comes after Pakistan secured another spot LNG cargo earlier this month. That shipment was purchased at a lower price of $20.69 per MMBTU, according to official sources.

The difference in prices shows an increase in the cost of buying LNG from the spot market. However, officials have not announced any changes to the country’s LNG import strategy. The latest cargo will help support energy needs during the scheduled delivery period.

Pakistan LNG Limited continues to monitor market conditions before issuing new tenders. The company aims to secure the required gas supplies while responding to international price movements and domestic demand.
