Pakistan’s IT exports have reached a record $4.6 billion, marking the highest level in the country’s history. According to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, the sector recorded a 21% increase compared with the previous year, reflecting continued growth in the country’s technology industry.
The ministry also reported that the IT sector’s trade surplus increased by 85% during the same period. Officials said the strong performance highlights the growing contribution of the technology sector to Pakistan’s economy and export earnings.
The government trained more than 100,000 young people in modern digital and IT skills over the past year. Officials said these training programs aim to prepare the workforce for global technology opportunities and increase employment in the digital economy.
To support international expansion, the Ministry of IT organized participation in more than 20 international technology exhibitions. More than 250 Pakistani IT companies and startups showcased their products and services, helping them connect with potential clients and investors from around the world.
The government also included representatives from Pakistan’s IT industry in several official overseas visits led by the Prime Minister. Officials said these engagements helped promote Pakistan’s technology sector and strengthen business ties with international markets.
The government introduced several incentives to encourage further growth in Pakistan IT exports. These measures include continuing the Final Tax Regime for IT exporters and maintaining a reduced 0.25% tax rate on export earnings. Industry stakeholders believe these incentives will improve competitiveness and attract additional investment.
The record performance in Pakistan IT exports highlights the country’s expanding digital economy and growing presence in global technology markets. Officials expect continued investment, skilled workforce development, and supportive government policies to drive further export growth in the coming years.
