China and Pakistan Urge US-Iran Talks and Ceasefire

US-Iran talks

China and Pakistan have called for renewed diplomacy by urging the United States and Iran to resume negotiations. The US-Iran talks appeal followed a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Shanghai. Both countries said dialogue remains the best way to reduce tensions and secure lasting peace.

According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi urged all sides to honor their commitments and fully implement the existing ceasefire understanding. He also stressed the importance of respecting the related memorandum of understanding. As a result, he encouraged every party to avoid actions that could increase regional tensions.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar and Wang Yi reviewed the changing security situation in the Middle East. They agreed that diplomatic engagement offers the most effective path toward regional stability. Furthermore, they called for direct negotiations between the United States and Iran to restart as soon as possible.

Both countries repeated their support for resolving disputes through dialogue instead of military action. They said peaceful negotiations could reduce tensions, protect civilians, and encourage long-term political stability. Therefore, they urged all parties to place diplomacy ahead of confrontation.

The joint statement also reflected the long-standing foreign policy positions of Beijing and Islamabad. Both governments supported peaceful conflict resolution and encouraged respect for international agreements. Meanwhile, they warned that further escalation could threaten regional peace and delay diplomatic progress.

The renewed appeal comes as concerns continue to grow over instability across the Middle East. International observers believe sustained diplomatic efforts will remain essential for preventing further conflict. In addition, many experts say continued dialogue can help build confidence between the concerned parties.

China and Pakistan did not announce any new diplomatic initiative during the meeting. However, they reaffirmed their willingness to support peaceful efforts that encourage negotiations. They also emphasized the need for all parties to work together to maintain regional stability.

The renewed call for US-Iran talks highlights China and Pakistan’s shared commitment to diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution. Finally, both countries maintained that dialogue, respect for commitments, and continued negotiations offer the strongest path toward lasting peace in the region.
