Pakistan has sufficient petroleum reserves to meet domestic demand, the National Coordination and Management Council (NCMC) said on Thursday. Officials assured the public that fuel supplies remain stable across the country. They added that there is no immediate risk of shortages despite recent concerns over possible supply disruptions.
The NCMC reviewed the country’s petroleum situation during a meeting held to assess fuel availability. Officials confirmed that existing petroleum stocks can comfortably meet current demand. They also said the government continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure uninterrupted supplies nationwide.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik attended the meeting alongside NCMC members and senior officials. Representatives from the Oil Companies Advisory Council, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Federal Board of Revenue’s Customs wing, and other relevant institutions also participated. Together, they reviewed market conditions and discussed measures to maintain fuel availability.
Officials informed the meeting that fuel sales increased sharply during the first 15 days of July. The unexpected rise created concerns about possible pressure on supplies. However, participants agreed that existing inventories remain sufficient and that authorities have already taken steps to manage the situation effectively.
OGRA’s market analysis identified a possible risk of hoarding because of expectations surrounding higher petroleum prices. Consequently, the council directed the regulator to take strict action against anyone involved in hoarding or manipulating the market. Officials stressed that strong enforcement would help maintain fair fuel distribution across the country.
The NCMC also instructed provincial governments to prevent stockpiling and ensure continuous fuel availability for consumers. Relevant institutions received directions to monitor market conditions regularly and respond quickly to any emerging issues. These measures aim to keep petroleum products available without disruption.
The government reiterated that Pakistan’s petroleum reserves remain adequate to support national demand. Officials urged the public not to panic or make unnecessary fuel purchases. They emphasized that authorities will continue monitoring supplies and market activity to maintain stability throughout the country.
The council said coordinated efforts between federal and provincial institutions will help protect consumers from artificial shortages. It also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted fuel supplies during a period of increased public concern over petroleum availability.
